Firstrade (read our full review) announced this morning that they will begin offering investors the opportunity for no cost to buy and sell 10 different ETFs (exchange traded funds). This will be a savings of $6.95 per trade or $13.90 for a round-trip. Stockbrokers.com recently did a four part ETF Investment Series (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4) as part of our investment education section.
Firstrade CEO John Liu stated, “The 10 ETFs we selected for commission-free trading are designed to allow clients to quickly and easily build a strong foundation for a diversified portfolio.” One important factor to note is that if you sell a commission-free eligible ETF within 30 days of purchase, you will be charged the standard equity commission rate of $6.95. This still works out to a 50% savings on a 30 day or less round-trip short term investment.
Here are the 10 Commission-Free ETFs for Firstrade traders:

- Vanguard Intermediate Term Bond ETF (Symbol: BIV)
